Settlement Details

Samsung's top-loading washing machines were found to have a defect where the drum could become unbalanced and detach at high speeds during the spin cycle, causing the top to blow off the machine. The CPSC documented multiple incidents including property damage and at least one injury.

Samsung recalled approximately 2.8 million affected washers and this settlement provides additional compensation beyond the recall.
